When people ask me if I prefer big, extravagant weddings or elopements, I will always say ELOPEMENTS! They are so intimate and special (not that a big wedding can't be..) But because it's mostly just you and your significant other, maybe a few close friends and family, you get to soak in those moments so much more. I've always felt like big weddings were more for pleasing your guests and making sure they were having a good time, but with elopements it's only you and the people you love celebrating your commitment to someone else.
